{Summer FUN} Day 2 - Capitol Steps and Lilly Loving Friends

We woke up early, and trucked it up to both Hartford, Connecticut...

and Providence, Rhode Island...

to make a couple of runs up B's 21st and 22nd sets of state capitol steps!

After seriously debating continuing on up to Boston, I decided to turn back, opting to do those steps with Hubby in tow...

On our way back through Connecticut...

we stopped in to visit with good friends S & S, and their sweet little twins, B & R...

Headed home tomorrow...

What a fun adventure!

{Road Trip} Day Six - Notable Lunch Spots

We got up, grabbed breakfast out at a diner with S & S, and bid them farewell...

Our first stop was about an hour up the road in New Haven, Connecticut...

In New Haven, we made stops at both the birthplace and first home of President George W. Bush. George W. Bush was born at Grace-New Haven Hospital, what is now Yale-New Haven Hospital...

We're probably one of the only people to stage a photo op right in front of the hospital sign!

From there, we headed over to the Yale campus, and George W. Bush's first home. Since he was born when his father was in law school, his parents lived in a married housing apartment located in this building...

For lunch we stopped at Louis' Lunch, one of the establishments that claims to have served the very first hamburger sandwich!

It's a teeny tiny building - probably seats no more than 25 people inside... Things to know ~ their hamburger sandwich is served on toasted white bread (no bun) and both ketchup and mustard are strictly prohibited...

Next on my list was a stop in Mystic, Connecticut...

What a beautiful seaport!

As pretty as it is, the seaport isn't why I planned this stop... I just couldn't be so close and pass up the chance to sample the one and only Mystic Pizza! Yes, I am a fan of the movie and am always thrilled when I happen to find it randomly playing on television... We just had to stop in, and besides, I had yet to eat lunch (since hamburgers aren't my thing)...
