{Road Trip} Day Thirteen - A Little Bit of Elvis and HOME!

After driving through the night, we grabbed breakfast and arrived at Graceland, home of Elvis Presley, for our 9:00 tour...

and what a very THOROUGH tour it was!

Armed with an interactive ipad and headphones for the narrated tour by none other than John Stamos...

we made our way inside.

First stop was the living room...

From there we walked through the foyer...

to Elvis' parents' bedroom...

Evidently, his mother helped design the bathroom wallpaper!

From there, we toured the dining room...

with the kitchen right behind...

Though the upstairs remains closed off out of privacy to Elvis, from the kitchen, we headed down the mirrored staircase into the basement...

I loved the fabric-draped billiards room!

It is definitely A LOT...

but, I REALLY liked it...

We came back upstairs to the den, which was dubbed the jungle room...

for obvious reasons...

We exited the main house and the tour just kept on keeping on...

to Elvis' dad's office...

where we saw a model of Elvis' birthplace in Tupelo, Mississippi...forshadowing, maybe???

We passed by the horse pasture...

and continued along the back of the house...

where we entered an area called the trophy room. Priscilla and Elvis actually had one of their wedding receptions here, but now it houses several exhibits related to the home, including renderings...

From there, we entered the raquetball court. This was added by Elvis in 1975, and it is attached to the back of the barn...

We exited that area and entered the meditation area that Elvis had built as a place for reflection. It is now the final resting place of not only himself, but his parents, his grandmother, his daughter, and one of his grandchildren...
