{All In a Day} Savannah FUN

 In celebration of our sweet L turning 4 1/2 at the beach...

we ventured south to Savannah for a day trip to celebrate!

 

 

We lunched on sandwiches and ice cream floats at Leopold's Ice Cream...

 

 

before hopping over to the initial phase, Exploration Station, of the fairly new Savannah Children's Museum...

 

 

The entire exhibit is outside on the grounds of the old Central of Georgia Railway Savannah Shops and Terminal Facilities and is, in turn, so very unique!

 

B loved checking out the old steam engine and the real, operating turntable on the way to the exhibit...

 

 

Once inside the gates, the children literally played for hours ~ we closed the place down!

 

We made music...

 

 

dressed up...

 

 

 

played giant games...

 

 

read books...

 

 

discovered our inner artists...

 

 

built towers...

 

 

 played in the sand...

 

 

 

 ran up the big hill...

 

 

 

 and climbed on the old train engine...

 

 

 

 before calling it an afternoon and heading over to the famous, The Pirates' House Restaurant, for dinner...

 We even enjoyed a little after-dinner tour around the place...

What a FUN day celebrating our sweet little L!

 

 

{All In a Day} Babyland General - Cleveland, GA

On a whim, we decided to take a little day trip today and head over to Cleveland, GA to visit Babyland General, home of the famous Cabbage Patch Kids.  Yes, I was a child of the 1980s, and Cabbage Patch Kids were a big part of my childhood...I have 5 ~ they are buried in our basement somewhere, but after today, I am now on a mission to start digging!

Oh, how exciting it was for me when I got my first, Amelinda Jane (yes, my "Type A" self never could go through with the renaming process, I had to stick with the crazy "given" name that she, and my other 4, came with) for Christmas.  She had brown hair and blue eyes, just like me.  I remember visiting Babyland General as a child and seeing "Mother Cabbage" birth a baby.  I know...  Crazy!

I was probably the most excited to embark on our trip since my girls had no idea or reference to where we were going!  All I can say, is that Babyland General has gone through quite an expansion since the 1980s...wow...

Once inside, the girls wandered around the nursery, and even got to hold a "newborn"...

We made our way to the Cabbage Patch (and it's not at all how I remembered it!)...

and even got to see a birth (the crowd named her, Allison Smith)...

before choosing babies to adopt...

and making it "official"...

On the way home, we tackled a hilltop playground in Helen, GA...

and grabbed some pizza at Cosmo's Slice of Helen...

before making our way back home!
