{Weekend Adventure} College Campuses & Cajun Country

With college football back in season (well, for *most* teams ~ not naming names but...), our Clemson Tigers were kicking it off with a road game against LSU in Baton Rouge, and we decided to make a long, holiday weekend of it!

The girls and I left early Friday morning in order to make it to Auburn for a college tour...

We grabbed some ice cream and lemonade at Toomer's Drugs...

before heading over to our residence hall tour.

After that, we had a chunk of time before our campus tour so we skipped over to Opelika to grab lunch at Bandito's...

and, it was really good...

After lunch, we headed back over to campus for our tour...

and fell in love with the campus...

Hubby and B met up with us shortly after, and we left a car and consolidated into one before continuing on to New Orleans for the night...

The next morning, we headed over to Baton Rouge to explore the LSU campus...

ahead of the Clemson/LSU game...

(or, maybe I should just say the LSU game)...

There was a huge weather delay...

and I'm not sure the Clemson team made it all the way to Baton Rouge...

but we can check that off our list.

We spent Sunday in New Orleans grabbing an early lunch at Luke...

It was quite good!

After lunch, Hubby and the kids went on a search for some ice cream and found some at Sucre...

before heading back to the hotel for naps!

We grabbed dinner at New Orleans staple, Mother's Restaurant...

and ended the night watching the thrilling Ole Miss/Louisville game. I wish our game would've been half that exciting. Ha!

On Monday morning, some of us ran...

and some of us (make that just me) took a streetcar...

down to the French Quarter and grabbed beignets for breakfast at Cafe du Monde...

before taking a few pictures...

around Jackson Square...

and on the walk back to the hotel...

From there, we made our way slowly back home, making a stop in my daddy's hometown, Ocean Springs, MS to visit some ancestors...

and grab a late lunch at a place my grandmother always delighted in taking us to eat, Sicily's...

We then booked it the rest of the way home making a stop for "a Coke and some gasoline" since it was "Labor Day Weekend (and) I was (or, L was) seventeen"...

{see lyrics of "Something Like That" by Tim McGraw}

No matter the ending of the game (or honestly, the whole thing), so grateful for a long weekend away with my people.
