{Road Trip} Day Eight - A Universally Good Time

This morning started with a quick stop for me at Zibby's Bookshop...

in the lovely Santa Monica...

L came along with me...

From there, we had originally planned to spend the day at Disneyland, riding on our Walt Disney World high from over Christmas, BUT B really wanted to give Universal Studios Hollywood a try, since we'd already been to Disneyland several years back. So, we switched it up and went there instead!

But first, we made a stop at the Los Angeles Air Force Base to pick up our tickets and grab lunch!

Since we made it to the park after lunch, we didn't get a full day, but tried to get to everyone's number one choice of rides...

We headed down to the Lower Lot section and stopped in the Super Nintendo World area to ride Mario Kart: Bowser's Challenge first...

before heading over to the Jurassic World area to give Jurassic World - The Ride a go...

We all LOVED it! It was a bit like Splash Mountain, but with the "thrill" aspect of animatronic dinosaurs coming out at us from every direction!

From there, we headed back up to the Upper Lot section where we grabbed some drinks...

and ice cream...

en route to the Studio Tour...

The Studio Tour is celebrating 60 years this summer, and we enjoyed an awesome tram ride...

where we saw current studios...

{Studio 30 & 31 are getting ready to host The Voice tapings this next week}

various sets...

and special effects (that we got to be a part of)...

There was even an area where we were allowed to jump off the tram...

and take photos with some props...

The prop area was extra cool...

This whole experience took nearly 2 hours, but it was awesome...

From there, we headed to the Springfield area for The Simpsons Ride...

Sadly, we ran out of time before making it over to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter area.

The day (or, afternoon, I guess I should say) went by way too quickly, but it just got us thinking that we should try to plan a trip down to Universal Studios Florida sometime soon!

When we left, we couldn't resist swinging by the real Hollywood sign again!

Afterwards, we swung by In-N-Out Burger for a late night dinner...

Heading further south tomorrow...
